wake up people, Dubai is crazy and fake, it will not last!!!
Everything about it is artificial, no culture, no democratic system, just crazy buildings build from oil cash. It will not last for sure. A new center of the world? dream on. I think everything will collapse very soon. Who would want to live in a desert? it is kind of like Vegas, maybe be OK to visit once, but the eco-system is so fragile and it will not be sustainable. People there are clearly just trying to make some quick money and leave, it will be a ghost town in a few years when oil crashes. Yes, it might be modern looking, but medieval in nature!!! what a fake

I just read the reasons. I've never been to Dubai, but I have friends who lived there for a while. Why did they go? For the money, of course. I'm told salaries are high and that expats stick to themselves mostly, speaking with the locals as little as possible. Sounds like a place I really don't ever want to visit. Especially given the homophobic attitude of the Government.
So modern and yet, so Medieval.

thanks for dropping by harry and for this comment.

Hey i agree. Dubai has great potential. And the inconveniences that come are just cause I think this is all just starting to happen all at once. Like i said in that last paragraph up there, it'll all balance out eventually. I think right now, it's in an awkward stage. A lot of us find that stage pretty funny.

And you're right. I feel very very safe in Dubai compared to where I'm from. If we talk about security, this place tops the list of all the countries I've been in.

Oh. since this post is getting too much attention already, to everyone else: Guys. I just want you all to know It isn't this bad. It's meant to be funny in a stand-up-comedy exaggerated way. So this list pretty much sums up all the worst things you can think of. But there has to be a good reason why a ton of people have moved here right? And I'm telling you there are good reasons. Google it or something.

(man if i get another 80 hits on this post I'm taking it off).

WOW that’s definitely the negative way to look at the country.
I always said there are 2 ways to look at something the right way or the wrong way.
And I think we it's easy to criticize something than to make a good judgment of it and to say well then how or what can I do to make it better.
We have not been here so long with our family but we realize the difficulties there are here and the difference in culture which take some time to adapt to.
But all in all this is still a thriving country where there is no criminality and were the future is looking bright for those who want.
When I see the situation today in Europe I think for my children and think they will have a much better time growing up here than over there.
anyway yes the traffic is bad, yes it is extremely hot and yes it can be a bit complicated for purchasing alcohol when you just arrived but there are close emirates by which offer great solution especially in Ras Al Khaimah were my wife and I spent a great week end last friday. You can read our adventures on our blog which is somehow slightly more positive than this comment. http://brawlings-in-emirates.blogspot.com/
any way that’s my opinion and will be glad to speak to others about it especially if you just arrived.
best regards Harry
