wake up people, Dubai is crazy and fake, it will not last!!!
Everything about it is artificial, no culture, no democratic system, just crazy buildings build from oil cash. It will not last for sure. A new center of the world? dream on. I think everything will collapse very soon. Who would want to live in a desert? it is kind of like Vegas, maybe be OK to visit once, but the eco-system is so fragile and it will not be sustainable. People there are clearly just trying to make some quick money and leave, it will be a ghost town in a few years when oil crashes. Yes, it might be modern looking, but medieval in nature!!! what a fake

I forgot I wrote that comment!!!

I'm in Australia on vacation...needed the break from Dubai. And with a bit more freedom to surf, I was just googling anything about gay Dubai I can get my sticky mitts on before I fly back to my closet on 14 August. "Closet, Gay, Dubai"...brought me back here....and the words I wrote weeks ago!! I'll have to bookmark it so I don't loose it again.

Yeah.....do have that support group......that is important. It's good to have friends you can be "real" to.

Nope....no blog. Was thinking of it......but kinda worried about putting to much out there....I tend to be quite bitter over the whole matter!! Kinda hoping to get it all sorted out in my head by December....else I'll be heading back to Canada.

I kinda get the feeling your in your 20s?? No need to answer. I'm early 40s....too old to be wasting time on trying to live a lie 'cause I offend the cultural, moral and religious norms of the UAE. I'm so tired of seeing that message. If I ever go back to Canada......I'm gonna have that printed on a T-Shirt and wear it with PRIDE!!

If I ever start a blog (I think I'll try), I'll let you know.

Oh...and the name is not Mike......but it'll do.

Here's the news report from Gulf News:
40 arrested in malls for cross dressing
By Alia Al Theeb, Staff Reporter
Published: July 17, 2008, 00:05
Dubai: Police have caught 40 cross-dressing tourists in shopping malls and other public places and they will be deported soon, a senior officer said on Wednesday.

The visitors were arrested after police launched a campaign against transvestites last May. Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Dubai Police Chief, had said then that transvestites were frequently being spotted in public places. "This is against the UAE's traditions and social values," he had warned.

Any man or woman who dresses up and behaves like the opposite gender in public will be questioned and legal action will be taken against him or her, the police chief had said.

The 40 transvestites were referred to the Public Prosecution, which issued an administrative deportation order against them. All of those arrested were visitors and tourists and not residents, the police official said.

Hey S. I'm supposed to see him within this week. He doesn't answer my calls, but he'd call and send me sms's. So the unspoken rule is, don't call him. He'll call me.

I suspect this is more of a physical thing rather than something more. Oh well. Even if I'm just some guy to him at least I get great pre and post sex conversations.

At this point I've decided not to invest too much emotion into this guy. I can't keep waiting for him.

DG: oops. busted. :) I hope you could write some more though. Yeah that was me who commented.

Jon: It's not empty and lonely. It's just that those pictures you see are devoid of people cause it was probably taken during summer (people like to escape the 45 degree celsius temp). I don't find dubai lonely at all. Streets are busy, malls are teeming, offices are chaotic, gym's packed. If you can come over, come. I mean if you're doing a short term contract with that company who gave you the offer why don't you give it a shot? You know anyone who's already working here?

Hey...im the same age as you..recently got a job offer in Dubai...I'm very very tempted to go, but for all the research I do...it still looks like Dubai is an incredibly empty and lonely place...All the fantasic buildings are surrounded by nothing but concrete, all the markets seem empty, the beach promenades are beautiful but eerily empty as well....Is this how dubai is? I dont want to go out there if its just going to be lonely...I'm used to Los Angeles type living. Get back to me...your posts are very interestesing and i value your opinion...Thanks
